This is a breed of working and herding dog. Bred for intelligence and obedience, the Border Collie was mostly used to herd sheep and other livestock. Cited as the most intelligent dogs, they are currently used widely in dog sports, but still retain their original purpose of herding.
Border Collies are medium sized dogs. They have a thick coat that sheds frequently. They are mostly seen in black and white colour patterns, although the breed may occur in just about any colour and pattern. Eye colour varies from brown to blue.
They are a beautiful dog with a great temperament.
This is an intelligent dog breed. Due to their working heritage, they enjoy playing, and can be energetic and demanding. They are known for chewing holes in walls, biting furniture and making holes in the ground. Hence, they are seen as a highly destructive pet to keep at home. They are not suited to children, cats or other dogs due to their strong urge to herd. Exercise is a must if you choose to keep them as pets
