Fox Terrier

Posted on May 26, 2019

There are two main breeds of the Fox Terrier – the Smooth Fox Terrier and the Wire Fox Terrier. They originated in the 19th century and are related to other white terrier breeds. They are similar in characteristics, though they differ when it comes to their coat and markings.

Fox Terrier Description

Smooth Fox Terriers have a coat that is short and hard and mostly white. They have a long, wedge-shaped head with small eyes and ears that are V-shaped. However, the Wire Fox Terrier is known for its hard and crisp double coat. The coat has a coarse texture underneath that protects the dogs from the cold. It has a short body and just like the Smooth Fox Terrier, it has small dark eyes and V-shaped ears.

Fox Terrier Temperament

Fox Terriers are outgoing in nature and enjoy the outdoors just as much as they enjoy people. Though small, they are highly energetic and require exercise to remain healthy. Initially meant for fox hunting parties, they still enjoy running and digging and are happy to entertain kids of all ages. They are fearless and loyal in nature and therefore make excellent family pets.
